North Alabama USM Alumni Welcomes Major General Jeff Hammond

Retired Maj. Gen. Jeff Hammond will speak to the University of Southern Mississippi alumni association and friends Nov. 16 at the Officers and Civilians Club. The luncheon is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in ballrooms 1 and 2. Cost will be $16 per adult and checks payable to USM North Alabama Alumni Association. Send by Nov. 12 to Stacy Busby. Hammond served as chief of staff for Forces Command. He also served as commander of the 4th Infrantry Division and of the Multi-National Division in Baghdad, Iraq. He was a quarterback for the Golden Eagles from 1976-78. He joined the Southern Miss athletic department in October 2010 and serves as the chief fund-raiser for the department.

Southern Miss to the TOP with Ray Guy!

The Southern Miss North Alabama Alumni Association will bring you a smokin', toe tappin' good time in the Rocket City when we welcome Ray Guy to the Huntsville Museum of Art. All Southern Miss alumni and friends are invited. Ray Guy was a punter for Southern Miss and then a star NFL punter for the Oakland/LA Raiders. One of his punts hit the hanging scoreboard in the New Orleans Superdome. Another was tested for helium!

Join us for hot BBQ from Smokey's, for Southern Miss tunes, and for Ray Guy! BBQ plates include pulled pork, shredded chicken, beef, potato-bar, slaw, rolls, dessert, and beverage.

Pre-purchase your tickets by Monday, July 20, due to a limited number of seats available. Tickets for the event are $15 for adults in advance ($20 day of the event) and $8 for children 12 and under. The museum will be open special hours and free to our Southern Miss alumni and friends attending this event. A special exhibit entitled, NASA:50 Years of Exploration Through Art, will be on display. Directions to the museum are available at Parking meters around the museum during the event will be free.

There will also be local Southern Miss artists that will have their art work displayed and a silent auction to benefit the local alumni chapter.
